Water upstream of a dam is diverted into a powerhouse. The potential energy created by the height of the dam is converted into kinetic energy. A portion of the kinetic energy is harnessed to generate electricity.
Abundant kinetic energy, in the form of high volumes of fast moving water, is released back into a waterway downstream of the dam.
An array of PDI hydrokinetic turbines extracts the otherwise wasted energy from the fast moving water exiting the powerhouse. Maximizing the use of existing power infrastructure.
